Liberty High School announces that Head Football Coach Tommy Buzzo has accepted a verbal offer to become the Defensive Coordinator at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in New Britain, CT, according to Karen Parkinson, coordinator of information for the Fauquier County school division.
CCSU is a member of the Northeast Conference. Coach Buzzo leaves Liberty after 10 years as head football coach with an overall record of 89 wins and 24 losses. His teams have captured four AA district championships and one AAA regional title.
He has been named Northwestern District Coach of the Year twice and is a two-time winner of the Evergreen District Coach of the Year award. He was the Defensive Coordinator of the East Team in the Virginia High School League (VHSL) Coaches Association All-Star game in 2011 and was Head Coach of the West squad in the 2009 VHSL Coaches Association All Star game.
Coach Buzzo has coached 22 Division I scholarship athletes. His players have signed with ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big East, MAC, CAA, and Big South conference schools as well as numerous Division II and Division III colleges.
