Reagan Middle School team claims World Champion trophy in 3D Archery

Reagan Archery came up big in Nashville where the team of 24 archers competed in the National Archery in the School Program (NASP) World Tournament and the NASP/International Bowhunting Organization (IBO) 3D World Tournament. Building on a successful season, the team was named World Champions in the NASP/IBO World 3D Challenge.

“It was a tight competition with only 7 points separating the first and third place teams,” said coach Johnathan Bukva.

“Rising ninth grader Amanda Kraemer shot well enough to make the podium and finished 5th for all middle school girls. Rising eighth grader Jack Riccardi missed 5th place for middle school boys by one bullseye. This is the first time that a team from Virginia has finished on the podium in any tournament at the National or World level.”

The team also competed in the bullseye tournament on Saturday morning. The team’s score of 3332 was not enough for the podium, but has improved in every tournament this year.

The team’s motto this year has been “The Diligent Shall Prosper.” That motto proved to be true at the World Tournament as the team has been shooting together since November. Reagan’s archery club shoots from September into November. The team’s hard work and practice have produced World-Class archers.

The team hopes to continue its success in the final tournament of the year. Fourteen Reagan Middle School archers will compete in Ellicottville, NY later this month at the NASP/OBO World Outdoor 3D Challenge.
