6K for water in Manassas Sept. 12

Six kilometers (3.72 miles) is the average distance that people in Africa have to walk for water.

The World Vision 6K for Water, in conjunction with Fun Run Racing, will start from George Mason University’s Freedom Center in Manassas at 9 a.m. on Sept. 12.

Rob Dulin said, “When we met with Rusty Funk, the director of the National 6K for Water race series, we realized that this is an event that we needed to help bring to the DC area.  The opportunity to host a dynamic, fun event and help provide clean water to hundreds if not thousands of people in need completely aligns with the mission of Fun Run Racing.”

The course will continue to be flat and is the same course as Fun Run Racing’s Thanksgiving, New Year’s Day and July 4 Firecracker 5K races with an extra loop, Dulin said.

Each registration of $50 will bring clean water and fullness of life to one person, whose photo will be pictured on the race bib given to each participant. Every bib is unique and shows each participant his or her direct impact in Africa, a news release said.
