Prince William, Fauquier athletes bring home gold medals in Sr. Olympics

A new event in the 2014 Northern Virginia Senior Olympics, a 5K Run, concluded this past weekend in Reston, officiated by the Reston
Road Runners Club.

Gold medals were awarded to (women) 50-54, Anita Galle, Woodbridge, 60-64, Ginny Hughes, Warrenton, 65-69, Judy Snellgrove, Manassas,  (men) 55-59, Albert Arcand, Woodbridge, 60-64, Clifton Anderson, Warrenton, 
   
Wakefield District Park, Annandale hosted the racquetball and handball competition. Gold medalists in racquetball included 55-64, Richard Ball of Dumfries, in the 65-74, age group.
   
The Virginian Retirement Community, Fairfax, was the site of American style Mah Jongg,  a new event with no age or gender divisions. The play followed National Mah Jongg League, Inc. rules.  The gold medal winner was Phyllis Bowman of Haymarket with a score of 300.
