Beginning Sept. 1, 2021, all hunters (including those who are not required to purchase a license) who harvest a deer, turkey, bear, bobcat, or elk, will need to check their harvest by calling DWR (866-GOT-GAME), logging on to gooutdoorsvirginia.com, or by using the mobile app harvest reporting system, GoOutdoorsVa (free through the app store).
Six kilometers (3.72 miles) is the average distance that people in Africa have to walk for water. The World Vision 6K for Water, in conjunction with Fun Run Racing, will start from George Mason University’s Freedom Center in Manassas at 9 a.m. on Sept. 12.

The 2015 Quantico Classic Fishing Tournament is a 30-hour fishing tournament hosted by the Town of Quantico, VA, starting on Friday, Aug. 28 at noon and ending on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. It is open to anglers of all ages, skill levels and physical ability.

In 2004, with Battlefield High School in its infancy, Chuck Driesell recognized a great local opportunity in using the school’s facilities for his basketball camp, the Chuck Driesell Basketball Academy. Driesell and his staff have run hoops camps for girls and boys, ages 7-15, at Battlefield High ever since.

Reagan Archery came up big in Nashville where the team of 24 archers competed in the National Archery in the School Program (NASP) World Tournament and the NASP/International Bowhunting Organization (IBO) 3D World Tournament. Building on a successful season, the team was named World Champions in the NASP/IBO World 3D Challenge.
International Senior Softball Association (ISSA) will hold its 21st World Championships for Masters and Senior slowpitch softball teams on Aug. 14-16 in Manassas and other venues in Prince William County and northern Virginia.
