Beginning Sept. 1, 2021, all hunters (including those who are not required to purchase a license) who harvest a deer, turkey, bear, bobcat, or elk, will need to check their harvest by calling DWR (866-GOT-GAME), logging on to gooutdoorsvirginia.com, or by using the mobile app harvest reporting system, GoOutdoorsVa (free through the app store).

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) will be investing more than a million dollars in renovating three highly-used boating access sites in eastern Virginia. During the renovation process some of the facilities may not be fully operational.

When it’s finished, the Ali Krieger Sports Complex in the Potomac Shores community in Dumfries will include nine multi-purpose fields; a softball field; two Little League Fields; restrooms; a tot lot; and parking. At the Oct. 14 groundbreaking, Potomac District Supervisor Maureen Caddigan said Ali Krieger was the perfect candidate to lend her name to the complex since she is a graduate of Forest Park High School and a member of the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Champion team.
Philip Michael Pennington Traditional School will hold its annual Blue Jay 5K and Hero Mile fundraiser benefitting families of fallen police officers at the school at 9305 Stonewall Rd, Manassas, VA 20110 on Halloween morning - Saturday, Oct. 31 with packet pickup beginning at 7:15 a.m.
