Hot air balloon festival at Flying Circus Aerodrome in Bealeton Aug. 18-19

Flying Circus Aerodrome will host its annual hot air balloon extravaganza. Gates will open at 6:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday for the early balloon flights and the aerodrome stays open until dark. Balloons will only fly in the early morning and evening when the winds are light. More than a dozen hot air balloons will be flying.

Airplane rides are available all weekend for the Balloon Festival as well. These include open cockpit rides in the historic Stearman biplane, double rides for two in an antique WACO biplane, and kid’s rides in the legendary Aeronca Champ and Piper Cub. Extreme aerobatic biplane rides are also available to the most adventurous spirits. Come, and fly around the balloons in an open cockpit airplane!

The Flying Circus will perform at its acclaimed Barnstorming Airshow on Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. featuring formation flying demonstrations, world class aerobatics, classic comedy routines, death defying wing walkers and more, providing an afternoon of fun for the whole family. These performances include a host of antique airplanes from the Barnstorming Era!

The Flying Circus is the longest continuously running airshow in Virginia, and perhaps the world, with hundreds of thrilling performances over its 48-year history. Flying Circus Airshow performances are held every Sunday afternoon starting at 2:30 p.m., May through October, at its home aerodrome located at 5114 Ritchie Road (Route 644) in Bealeton, VA, weather permitting.
