Hylton Performing Arts Center eighth Anniversary Gala and After Party fundraiser will be on Saturday, April 14, to celebrate the arts in Manassas, Prince William County, and Northern Virginia, as well as those who have supported the local community and the Hylton Center.
The 2018 Gala also honors Julie and Buck Waters for their steadfast dedication and support of the local arts and the Hylton Center.
Funds raised through the Anniversary Gala benefit the Hylton Center’s artistic performances, arts education programs, and outreach initiatives, in addition to the Hylton Center’s Endowment to ensure artistic excellence in the performances and programs that it offers, according to a news release. Details are available at hyltoncenter.org/give/galas.
The Gala begins with a reception and dinner—sponsored by Compton & Duling, LC—on the magnificent Merchant Hall stage, allowing guests the opportunity to mingle, enjoy a wonderful meal, and celebrate the honorees.
Immediately following dinner is one of the most entertaining and unique features of the Gala—the After Party, sponsored by premium local distillery KO Distilling. Individuals have the option of purchasing a ticket to the After Party only.
The After Party includes signature bourbon and gin craft cocktails by KO Distilling; savory snacks and sweet desserts; a silent art auction with works from regional artists and George Mason University alumni; a jazz lounge in the Didlake Grand Foyer, featuring Mason School of Music’s Darden Purcell; and music by one of D.C.’s premier dance bands—Keynote—in the Gregory Family Theater.
The After Party begins at 8:30 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2018. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased online at advancement.gmu.edu/8hyltongala. Tickets and sponsorships to the entire Anniversary Gala evening can also be purchased at the link.
Physical tickets are not required; ticket purchasers may check in at the door using their full name. The Hylton Performing Arts Center is located at 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas, VA 20110. Parking is available in the lot in front of the building. Attire for this event is cocktail.
About the Hylton Performing Arts Center
Dedicated to bringing a world-class performing arts venue to the Prince William region, the Hylton Performing Arts Center was born out of a partnership among Prince William County, George Mason University, the City of Manassas, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and individuals and businesses in the private sector.
Soaring more than nine stories and boasting a stunning mix of copper, glass and masonry, the 85,000-square foot center is home to two unparalleled performance venues for local arts groups and performers from around the world, as well as university-related activities. Modeled after the intimate European opera houses of the 19th century, Merchant Hall is a 1,123-seat multipurpose proscenium theater, which is encircled by 27 private boxes that rise three levels. The Gregory Family Theater is a flexible, 4,400-square foot space that can be configured for many different types of performances and events. In addition, the Didlake Grand Foyer, with its sweeping staircase, provides an ideal setting for community, corporate and social events. The Hylton Performing Arts Center, the only building of its kind in the area, has quickly become the cultural hub of Prince William County and the surrounding communities and is a shining example of civic collaboration and commitment to the arts.
George Mason University is Virginia’s largest public research university. Mason is producing graduates who lead all Virginia schools with the highest annual salaries, according to the news release.
