Here’s a contest nearby if you’re an amateur nature photographer; entries due by Oct. 15

Submit your photos of Northern Virginia’s beautiful urban and rural outdoor places in the Nearby Nature Photo Contest, sponsored by the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust.

The contest is open to all non-professional photographers, with prizes for adults in two categories: “The land and water around us” and “urban nature,” and for a separate youth category.

Photos can include shots of nature, people and wildlife. See http://www.nvct.org for entry details and previous winners.

The deadline for online submissions of up to four photos is Sunday, Oct. 15 at midnight. Contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with questions.

The contest promotes awareness of land conservation and of public lands throughout Northern Virginia, from the urban inner counties, to Loudoun, Fauquier, Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, and Caroline counties.

The Northern Virginia Conservation Trust is a regional nonprofit land trust that conserves land with natural, historical and cultural value to our communities. The Trust works with private landowners and local jurisdictions, and holds conservation easements on more than 3,500 acres of valuable natural and historic land.
