Motorcycle touring expert to talk about “Code of the Road at Fauquier Library Aug. 27

If you’re a motorcyclist looking for a fun afternoon of tales from the road, how to beat Murphy’s Laws of motorcycling, and other hilarious topics, visit the Fauquier County Library in Warrenton, on Sunday, Aug. 27.

Hawk Hagebak, newly retired police captain and author of a three-volume series of Motorcycle Adventures guidebooks, will be discussing the “code” and other relevant topics in a his talk at the John Barton Payne Building, 2 Courthouse Square, Warrenton, at 2 p.m. For more information about the event, call 540-422-8500, ext. 6862.

A lifelong motorcyclist who has traveled on two wheels in 48 states and Europe, Hagebak served for more than a decade on metro-Atlanta’s motorcycle squad during his 27-year tenure with the Cobb County, Ga. force.

Hagebak’s presentations on motorcycle touring are known for no-nonsense, practical information laced with his own brand of humor. His talk will cover topics he calls “dealing with the lawless,” “Murphy’s Laws of motorcycling,” “meeting a lawman,” and “the art of the wave.” He’ll also share his experiences, road lies, and anecdotes from researching and writing the three guidebooks in his Motorcycle Adventures series, which cover routes he recommends in the mountains of North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. Hagebak will be selling and signing copies of all three books at the event.
