Medical Missionaries sets picnic fundraiser and 20th anniversary celebration April 22 in Manassas

Medical Missionaries will be having a family style picnic fundraiser and 20th anniversary celebration between noon and 4 pm on Saturday April 22, 2017 at the Knights of Columbus Hall 9290 Stonewall Rd Manassas, Va 20110.

Admission is free and there will be food at nominal costs, live music, raffles, silent auctions, entertainment, magician, balloon artist, and face painting. Come meet the many volunteers. 

This  event is the major fundraiser for Medical Missionaries in 2017. “We need your help and support to continue this very vital work for the poor. Hope to see you at the celebration of 20 years of caring for so many unheard voices,” says Gilbert R. Irwin, MD, president of Medical Missionaries.

Below is a list of the group’s ongoing programs in its attempt to help the poor and less fortunate of the world.

• Disaster relief and support following weather related calamities such as flooding from hurricane Katrina, floods in West Virginia, Louisiana and North Carolina following hurricane Matthew and in New Jersey following hurricane Sandy; complete devastation following the tsunami in Sri Lanka

• Local support of the poor with medical equipment, clothing, and household supplies (in Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland)

• An ongoing relief program in Appalachia, with biweekly deliveries of household goods, clothing, and medical equipment

• An annual clothing and personal hygiene items delivery for Indian Reservations of South Dakota, Montana, and Oklahoma

• Shipment of more than 165 sea containers of medical supplies worldwide to build healthcare infrastructure in very poor areas of the world, including 38 African countries

• Construction and ongoing support of a 24/7 hospital in Thomassique, Haiti, an area of about 125,000 people who previously had no permanent healthcare facility

• Sending four to six teams of medical, surgical, and dental specialists to Dominican Republic and Haiti each year

• Support for other medical teams that serve the poor wordwide
