US Mounted Border Patrol final prep for Inaugural Parade at Great Meadow in The Plains, VA

US Customs and Border Protection is shipping some of its top agents from Texas to participate in the Inaugural Parade for President Elect Trump.  These horses are not only special because they have an important job to protect our borders and citizens but they were once wild Mustangs, something rarely seen at Great Meadow.

The Rio Grande Valley Sector will be showcasing its well-trained Mustangs during their final prep on Wednesday, January 18, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Polo Stadium at Great Meadow.  Special Operations Supervisor, Ruben Garcia Jr. will be on hand to answer any and all questions from the media about the program and the parade detail.  Please use Gate #2.  This event is free and open to the public.

Great Meadow was founded through the vision of news executive and philanthropist Arthur W. (Nick) Arundel in 1982. Arundel purchased an abandoned farm then slated to become a housing development for perpetual preservation of open space. The concept for Great Meadow grew out of several converging forces of the 1980’s, primarily urban growth pressure on farmland near Washington, the opening of I-66 and the simultaneous loss of the former Virginia Gold Cup course in Warrenton to subdivision development.
