Manassas Battlefield Trust to host inaugural leadership reception Oct. 24

Manassas Battlefield Trust, official non-profit philanthropic partner of the Manassas National Battlefield Park, will host its Inaugural Leadership Reception on Oct 24, 2016, from 6 to 9 pm.

The evening program at the Henry Hill Visitors Center in the Park will offer an exclusive showing of rare Civil War artifacts from the Battles of 1st and 2nd Manassas (1861-1862) not on display to the general public, according to a news release.

The highlight of the evening will be a presentation by renowned historian Dr. Gary Gallagher, Professor of History and Director of the John L. Nau III Civil War Center at the University of Virginia.

Attendees will include prominent business leaders and noted historians, such as Edwin Bearss, former Chief Historian of the National Park Service and currently its Historian Emeritus. Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA10)  will attend and offer remarks.

The event will showcase the significant history of the Park, to inspire and build a strong membership base that can ensure the Trust will be an increasingly effective philanthropic partner in preserving and protecting this hallowed ground.

2016 marks the 100th Anniversary of the National Park Service and the 155th Anniversary of the Battle of First Manassas.

Inquiries regarding membership in the Trust and attendance at the Leadership Member Reception should be directed to Manassas Battlefield Trust Executive Director, Kathryn Kulick at: kkulick@manassasbattlefield.org, or call 703-754-0791
