Trail hikers, runners, riders and friends are invited to participate in National Public Lands Day on Sept. 24 at at Dove’s Landing Park in Manassas for some trail building. “This pristine 235-acre of woods and wetlands Park near the confluence of Cedar Run and Broad Run tributaries is a sight to see,” says Ed Dandar, one of the organizers.
Meet fellow trail stewards from Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition (PWTSC), Mid Atlantic Off Road Enthusiasts (MORE), Northern Virginia Conservation Trust (NVCT), and the Prince William County Department of Parks and Recreation from 8:30 to 99 a.m. for coffee and doughnuts at the Dove’s Landing parking lot at 9250 Doves Lane, Manassas, VA 20112.
We’ll be working from 9 a.m. to noon. Projects include – construction of a new boardwalk to carry the trail over swampy ground, building new trail reroutes to make the trail more sustainable, installing signs, and general trail maintenance.
Join us after the work for lunch on site generously provided by our friends at REI Woodbridge.
