Northern Virginia Community College’s Woodbridge Campus will showcase “Structure(d) Observations” until Sept. 30, in The New Gallery for Contemporary Art, 2645 College Drive in Woodbridge.
The three-dimensional work of regional sculptors Christian Benefiel, Elsabé Dixon, Laurel Lukaszewski, Adam Nelson, Stewart Watson and Dane Winkler will engage audiences in an interstitial space between viewing and interacting with the most recent role of sculpture designs.
Co-curated by NOVA-Woodbridge Assistant Professor of Sculpture Zac Jackson and Associate Professor of Art History Erin Devine, the exhibition bolsters attention for sculpture as the Woodbridge Campus’ newest art concentration.
“Students in the sculpture program will collaborate with sculptor artist Christian Benefiel to create an outdoor piece that will be on display for the run of the exhibition in the Sculpture Court, located just outside the east entrance to the gallery,” Devine said.
A reception is scheduled on Thursday, Aug. 25 from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. The Gallery is located on the first floor of the Arts & Sciences Building (WAS). The exhibit and the reception are free and open to the public.
The Gallery will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Parking is free after 4 p.m. in any B lot on campus.
