Heritage Charity Classic 5K/2K Walk/Run/Bike for cancer kicks off on Sept. 24 for 15th year

15th Annual Heritage Charity Classic 5K/2K Cancer Walk/Run/Bike will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 8 AM on the lawn of the Heritage Hunt Golf and Country Club in the Heritage Hunt community in Gainesville. Proceeds will be donated to the Novant UVA Cancer Center at Lake Manassas in Gainesville

Last year nearly 200 people, from 5 to 85+, participated.

Enjoy a walk, run or bike through the community, socialize with neighbors or other participants (or their cheering squads), support the fight against cancer, and maybe even win a door prize.  T-shirts, food and beverages are included the $25 entry fee.

Registration forms, with additional information, are available at the front desk.  Register up until the day of the event, as well as on the morning of the event.  T-shirts may be picked up Monday through Friday evening, Sept. 9-23 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the clubhouse lobby.

Over the years, the Heritage Charity Classic has organized golf tournaments, casino nights, bingos, and walks in support of various cancer charities.  To date the group has contributed over $1.1 million to the fight against cancer, according to a news release.

The last few years all proceeds have been donated to the Novant UVA Cancer Center at Lake Manassas.  When the group started the Cancer Walk/Bike/Run, the Cancer Center had not yet been built.  Neighbors who needed treatment had to travel to Fairfax and fight the traffic, or drive to Charlottesville.
