Folk singer Judy Cook will perform a program of Civil War music at Manassas National Battlefield Park on Saturday, August 20.
Her program, titled “Civil War Hijinks,” will feature popular songs of the period and readings from letters written by her great-great-grandparents. The hour-long performance will be held in the Henry Hill Visitor Center auditorium at 5:30 p.m.
Cook, a Virginia native, is based in Ohio and has been performing professionally since the early 1990s. Beginning in 1998, she has toured extensively in the United States and the United Kingdom, performing her repertoire of songs and ballads from both countries.
Her performance at Manassas will draw on the rich musical heritage of mid-19th century America, a new release said.
The Henry Hill Visitor Center is located at 6511 Sudley Road (Virginia Route 234), three-quarters of a mile north of Interstate 66. For more information on this program and other events at the park, contact the Visitor Center at 703-361-1339, or visit the park website at http://www.nps.gov/mana
