Bonus Weeks
If you missed a couple of Passport or Passcard stamps you can earn two Bonus Stamps by either showing the librarian your reading log or telling us how you’ve done an activity related to science, art, history, or nature. Kids can earn a free book! Go to http://www.pwcgov.org/summerreading for details.

Summer Reading ends August 20
The last day to earn stamps, submit adult summer reading tickets, or pick up a free book is Saturday, Aug.20.
Kids’ and teen grand prize drawings winners will be notified around Aug. 29.
The last day to pick up Weekly Challenge drawing prizes is close of business Friday, Sept. 2.
Print your online Summer Reading logs until close of business Friday, Sept 30.

PokemonGO
Play the game that’s all the rage in a safe, friendly environment. Most PW libraries are PokéStops, and there are two Gyms! And you never know which characters you can catch reading books in the branches.

Pokémon GO Safari for all ages at Bull Run Regional Library in Manassas on Saturday, Aug. 13, 11 a.m.-noon.
Join the library’s staff of Pokémon trainers on a safari to catch as many Pokémon as you can. Take your own device or use one of ours. Wear comfy clothes-you’ll be walking outside and battling in our PokéGym! We’ll help you navigate our PokéStop and the outside world using the app safely.

Gotta Catch ‘Em All: Pokémon Day for all ages at Dale City Library, Saturday, Aug.27, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Take your cards and Pokémon games to play, trade, and earn points. Dale City Library is a PokéStop, too!

The Story Ship presents “The Great Pirate Race” for elementary school ages entering grades K-5.
Thursday, Aug. 4: Chinn Park: 10:30 a.m., Montclair: 3 p.m. and Bull Run: 7 p.m. Race to the treasure! A giant board game is projected onto a large screen while the audience must complete challenges such as singing, puzzles, helping with magic tricks, and performing comedy with the help of a live pirate! Montclair: First come, first served. Bull Run and Chinn Park: Tokens are given 30 minutes before the program starts until capacity reached.

Goodlife Theater: Land of Aloha, ages 3 to 8. Monday, Aug. 8
Montclair: 10:45 a.m. and Haymarket Gainesville: 3 p.m.
Puppets, music, and hula bring to life children’s tales from the islands as you hear folk tales and learn a simple hula, “Pearly Shells.” First come, first served until capacity is reached.

Sciencetellers: Power and Energy Entering grades K-5.
At five locations on Aug. 9 and 11.
Experience the science of power and energy by telling stories using exciting, hands-on experiments that will have you laughing, learning, and having fun! First come, first served except Bull Run and Chinn Park, which require tokens 30 minutes before start of the program.

Tween Scene: Fun with Folding Origami for those entering grades 4-7. at Bull Run Regional Library in Manassas on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 7 p.m. Make neat origami shapes with a special guest instructor. First come, first served until capacity is reached.

Gaming Night with the Edge Party Trailer for those entering grades 6-12. at Potomac Community Library in Woodbridge on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Evening of old-school board games and state-of-the-art video games in the Edge Party Trailer. You’ll spend one hour eating munchies and playing board games, and the other playing games in the trailer. Register online, in person, or by phone beginning Aug.t 3. Limit 40.

Wildlife Ambassadors: Rainforest Rescue at Chinn Park Regional Library in Lake Ridge area of Woodbridge for
entering grades K and up on Thursday, Aug. 18, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Learn about the rainforest and see live exotic birds such as a macaw, African grey parrot, and umbrella cockatoo. Pick up a free token 30 minutes before the start of the program.

Beowulf T. Wonder Bunny’s Traveling Show of Mystery for all ages with caregive at Central Community Library on Mathis Ave. between Manassas and Manassas Park, Saturday, Aug. 20, 11 a.m. Live, interactive show featuring balloon creatures, cartoons that come to life, and much more! First come, first served until capacity is reached.

Music @ Your Library: Flamenco Concert for all ages. at Central Community Library, on Mathis Ave. between Manassas and Manassas Park, Saturday, Aug. 20, 2:30 p.m. Join musician Davyd Pardo as you finish Explore Summer Reading with the sounds of the flamenco guitar.
