Gainesville District Supervisor Pete Candland will be joining Rise Up Prince William for the 4th Annual Walk for Prince William, a 32-mile walk across the county, on Saturday, May 21.
Beginning in Woodbridge and ending in Haymarket, the walk will raise donations for a number of charities along the route. These are Cooperative Council of Ministries, Don Bosco Center, Haymarket Food Pantry, House of Mercy and Traditional Housing BARN.
Candland’s walk is aimed at bringing awareness to a number of the pressing needs in our shared community in Prince William County.
Participating grocery stores have an in-store display and collection box for donations available until the day of the Walk on May 21. On the day of the Walk, volunteers will be outside each store providing lists of needed donation items.
Individuals can help out by visiting one of the participating grocery stores, picking up a shopping list from the in-store display, and purchasing items for donation. Donations will also be accepted at the finish line party. Donation collection sites include Giant at 4209 Dale Blvd, Woodbridge; Safeway at 4240 Merchant Plz, Woodbridge; Giant at 10100 Dumfries Rd, Manassas; Giant at 8025 Sudley Rd, Manassas;
Safeway at 12821 Braemar Village Plz, Bristow; Giant at 7575 Linton Hall Rd, Gainesville; and QBE at 14600 Washington St, Haymarket.
The community is invited to the finish line party that takes place from 6-8pm at the QBE Business Park (14600 Washington Street Haymarket) on May 21. The closing ceremony is free to the public; there will be live music, children’s activities, and refreshments in celebration of the day’s success.
