Fauquier Community Theater auditions for ‘I Hate Hamlet‘ May 7-8

Fauquier Community Theatre will hold auditions for the Summer Youth Showcase for ages 16-25.

I Hate Hamlet is about a young and successful television actor relocates to New York, where he rents a marvelous, gothic apartment. With his television career in limbo, the actor is offered the opportunity to play Hamlet onstage, but there’s one problem: He hates Hamlet.

His dilemma deepens with the entrance of John Barrymore’s ghost, who arrives intoxicated and in full costume to the apartment that once was his.

The contrast between the two actors, the towering, dissipated Barrymore whose Hamlet was the greatest of his time, and Andrew Rally, hot young television star, leads to a wildly funny duel over women, art, success, duty, television, and yes, the apartment.

Auditions are May 7, from 2-4 p.m., May 8 from 6-8 p.m., and callbacks if necessary are May 10, from 7-9 p.m.  Auditions are being held at Allegro Community Music School, 20 Main Street, Warrenton VA 20186.

There are roles for 3 men and 3 women ages 16-25.  Auditions will consist of cold readings of the script.  Please plan to stay for the entire audition.  Bring a list of conflicts and a headshot you don’t mind parting with.

The show is being directed by Evelyn Rice and Hannah Butler.  You can reach the director at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
