Moscow Ballet to dance at the Hylton Center on April 8

Moscow Festival Ballet on Friday, April 8, 2016, at 8 p.m., will present Tchaikovsky’s classic “The Sleeping Beauty” at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas.

The company then goes to George Mason University’s Center for the Arts with “Giselle” on April 16, 2016, at 8 p.m. and “Swan Lake” on April 17, 2016, at 4 p.m.

The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 by legendary Bolshoi Ballet principal dancer Sergei Radchenko, who brought leading dancers from across Russia together to forge a new company dedicated to staging new productions of timeless classics in the grand tradition of Russian ballet.

In “The Sleeping Beauty” generations of ballet lovers have been captivated by this timeless fairy tale about a beautiful princess waiting in slumber, a vengeful sorceress, and a wicked curse that can only be broken by a true love’s kiss.

“The Sleeping Beauty” is the crown jewel of Marius Petipa’s brilliant career. Performed to Tchaikovsky’s majestic score – which he regarded as one of his finest compositions – this lavish theatrical production with resplendent costumes and sets, is often considered the finest achievement of classical ballet.

A free performance discussions will be held 45 minutes prior to the April 8 performance in the Buchanan Partners Art Gallery at the Hylton Center.

Ticket Information: Tickets to all three performances from the Moscow Festival Ballet are $56, $48 and $34 per person. Tickets are half price for children and youth through grade 12.
