Manassas Symphony Orchestra (MSO) and Music Director, James Villani, will present the group’s annual family concert, “Child’s Play,” at the Hylton Performing Arts Center, 10960 George Mason Circle, Manassas, on Saturday, Dec. 12, at 3:30 pm.
The concert celebrates the imagination of children at play, and features Patriot High School flutist Natalie Wong who will perform Chaminade’s Concertino for Flute. Audience favorite Molly Elston will narrate Disney’s Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day.
The orchestra will also perform music from the movie, Polar Express, and Wizards in Winter as performed by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Concert-goers will be treated to a spectacular indoor light show finale that is the first of its kind at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
This concert is the second collaboration between Kid Pan Alley and the MSO. Kid Pan Alley is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote the creativity of children, helping them to write music and lyrics of original songs, and then to perform them. Students of Chris Yung Elementary School in Bristow will join the orchestra to perform their original compositions.
Get your tickets early for this annually sold-out performance experience. This is a great way to introduce children to orchestral music in a fun and family friendly environment. All children and students can attend the concert for free.
