Legendary Indian musician Rahis Bharti at Hylton Center for full show Nov. 20

Legendary Indian musician Rahis Bharti will bring his spectacular vision of authentic Indian music to the region accompanied by his talented ensemble of musicians and dancers. Nov. 20-21 at 8 p.m. both evenings.

Bollywood Masala Orchestra and Dancers of India will showcase enchanting music and joyous dance in Manassas Nov. 20 and Fairfax Nov. 21 with “The Spirit of India.” at the Hylton Performing Arts Center and in Fairfax at George Mason University’s Center for the Arts in Fairfax on Saturday, Nov. 21. The curtain will go up on both performances at 8 p.m.

By combining traditional Indian and Western instruments, “The Spirit of India” presents Indian music and dance as it has never been heard or seen before. Seventeen professional artists, including outstanding musicians, singers and dancers, lead a musical journey to Mumbai and beyond.

They will fill the stage with vivid colors, mesmerizing movement and hypnotic rhythms. Featuring both traditional and contemporary Indian music, this performance also includes songs from Bollywood’s most popular films. The Orchestra reflects this mix of Indian and Western music with bass drums, trombone, tabla, dholak, harmonium and clarinet, among many others. Astounding acts of daredevilry such as standing on swords, fire-breathing and the spellbinding Snake Charming Dance add to the excitement.

Pre-performance discussions, free to ticket holders, will be at 7:15 p.m. in the Buchanan Partners Art Gallery at the Hylton Center and Grand Tier III at the Center for the Arts.

Ticket Information: Tickets to Bollywood Masala Orchestra and Dancers of India are $48, $41 and $29 per person. Tickets are half price for children and youth through grade 12.
