New Dominion Choraliers of Prince William County, an award-winning community choir, will present its holiday musical program Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 3"30 p.m. at Hylton Memorial Chapel and Event Center, 14640 Potomac Mills Road in Woodbridge.
In its 20th season entertaining audiences in Prince William County and across Virginia, NDC will be performing fan favorites from its library of music. Feel the pageantry of Christmas with captivating arrangements of traditional carols such as “Joy to the World,” “Silent Night,” and “Rise Up Shepherd” and embrace the merriment of the season with crowd-pleasing renditions of “Jingle Bells Rock,” “Zat You Santa Claus,” “A Doo Wop Christmas,” and many, many more.
Directed by Katherine Nelson-Tracey, the chorus will be accompanied by local brass and percussion musicians. The audience will also be treated to several featured performances by NDCs talented vocalists and lively and beautiful dancers from Dance Etc. School of the Arts. Arrive 30 minutes early for a special pre-show harp concert performed by the students of Crookston Music Studio.
NDC Director, Katherine Nelson-Tracey was quoted in a news release as saying, “We hope that the spirit, the beauty, and the magic of the holidays will resonate throughout this marvelous musical program. As we celebrate our 20th season, we are performing music that resonates across the years. Whether you are new to NDC or avid supporter, you are sure to come away from this concert with a jingle in your step and a song in your heart.”
Purchase tickets online at http://www.newdominionchoraliers.org or at the door. Admission is $5 to $15, with discounts for seniors, PWCS and PWC government employees, law enforcement, and first responders.
Choraliers President, Jeff Limjoco announced that NDC will continue its support of the local charity, Trevor’s Treasures, by collecting unwrapped toys and donations in the lobby at the concert. Trevor Blake, 11, passed away in 2013 from a rare form of cancer. Rather than give up or give in, Trevor set a mission to bring toys to other children who were also suffering from cancer, and he dedicated his short life to bringing smiles to the faces of other children undergoing cancer treatment.
Membership is open to adults and high school juniors and seniors who have a serious interest in choral music. NDC also is open to students of the Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community College to earn ensemble credits. NDC is an Affiliate Arts Organization at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
