A living history presentation featuring historic trades, cooking and youth activities at Williams Ordinary and Weems Botts Museum will highlight Prince William County’s role in the Revolutionary War in Dumfries, VA from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 12-13.
Visitors should park at Dumfries Elementary School or Dumfries Town Hall and catch the free shuttle bus to the living history site, according to a news release from Prince William County’s Department of Historic Preservation. Dumfries is on US 1 in eastern Prince William County.
The cosponsored event commemorates the American and French forces’ march through Prince William County on their way to Yorktown in September, 1781.
Meet and greet generals and commoners who traveled with the Army on its way to Yorktown.
Historian Dr. John Maass will meet the public and talk about his newly released book, “The Road to Yorktown.”
