Those in the military who have sustained serious wounds face a lifetime of mental and physical rehabilitation. Since 9/11, many organizations have emerged to assist the wounded in adapting to their new life-styles.
One such group, Salute Military Golf Association (SMGA) a 501c3 non-profit corporation, provides encouragement, training and equipment to wounded veterans since 9/11 who want to learn or relearn the game of golf.
Heritage Hunt Golf and Country Club in Gainesville will host its second annual fund-raiser golf tournament for SMGA and for the Bull Run Warrior Retreat in Haymarket on Aug. 14.
Foursomes will play for prizes in a friendly format, and for the satisfaction of contributing to a worthy cause and helping those who have made such extreme sacrifices for our freedom.
Check-in will start at 8:30am followed by a 10:00 shotgun start, 3:00 reception, and a 3:45 wrap-up.
To sign up or donate, contact Trudy Franklin at 703-625-4993 or Ron Cayton, 703-743-5468.
