Catch up on your reading list and catch some great deals at the Friends of the Gainesville Library Summer Sale next week.
The sale begins on Friday, June 12 and continues until Sunday, June 14 at the Hay Market Masonic Lodge, 6713 Jefferson Street, Haymarket, Virginia. The annual sale wraps up with a Sunday Bag Day where patrons get a bag full of summer reads for only $2 dollars. The event includes titles from all genres for adults, young adults, and children.
Volunteers work all year to clean, sort and prepare books for this sale. This small group is dedicated to enriching the lives of our families by providing quality reading materials while raising money for programs at the Gainesville Library.
Each year, the Gainesville Library staff give the Friends a Wish List. The book sale fundraiser monies go toward purchases for the library and towards various library programs such as the annual Library Summer Reading Program. The new Haymarket Gainesville library is slated to open in October.
Friend volunteers use Prince William County Public Schools Summer Reading Program list for local schools to pull aside those hard to find summer reads. The voluntary library Summer Reading Program and PWCS program encourages students to enjoy quality literature and to continue developing their independent reading skills. Students who participate in the Prince William Public Library Summer Program (grades k-5) or the Wild Reads for Middle and High School Students can use that documentation for their school documentation in September.
The Prince William Public Library System sponsored program runs from June 22 and Aug. 22 this summer. The goal is to help students retain their skills reward their reading. During the summer program, students can earn points for reading, participating in library activities and visiting museums, national parks and historic sites. The library system will offer activities that include crafts, police dogs and live reptile shows.
Fauquier families are huge supporters of the Friends of the Gainesville Library sales. The Families 4 Fauquier will provide lanyards for the event this year. The Friends of the Gainesville Library is a 501 (3) (c) organization. For more information or questions, please, contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
