Hands-on discovery April 18 during Saturday at the Park

Manassas National Battlefield Park, along with Supporting Partners and Resources for Kids (SPARK) and Prince William County Schools, invite the public to explore some nature activities and a walk at the park on Saturday, April 18,  from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Brownsville Picnic Area, Groveton Road, Manassas.

Join Park Rangers for such hands-on activities as bird migration obstacle games, bird watching, nature journaling, TRACK Trail hikes, dip netting for macro-invertebrates and many more.  Enjoy a hike along a short loop trail and stop at each activity station to discover something fascinating about the park and our local community.
The event will also feature local partners such as the Virginia Department of Forestry, the Sweet Virginia Foundation and Prince William Wildflower Society that will showcase hands-on activities to connect people to the outdoors and promote environmental stewardship and education.

The Saturday at the Park event is a part of a National Park Service Challenge Cost Share grant.  The purpose of the grant program is to provide a means for the general public to learn about, explore and investigate the natural and historical treasure that is in their community.

This program hopes to introduce new audiences to the battlefield and give them an opportunity to enjoy and learn about the natural resources of the national battlefield park.
