All-County Orchestra at Battlefield High School Jan. 31

Outstanding orchestra students from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) at the middle and high school levels will combine their talents for an afternoon of music at the upcoming All-County Orchestra program, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31 at Battlefield High School.

The annual event gives young musicians a chance to perform challenging scores under the direction of a guest conductor.

Taryn Wood, orchestra director at Woodbridge High School, will direct the All-County Junior Honors Orchestra.

The All-County Senior Honors Orchestra will be under the direction of Elizabeth Reed, orchestra director at Lake Braddock Secondary School with Fairfax County Public Schools.

“This event provides a unique opportunity for strings students in the county because they perform both string and full orchestra repertoire in the program,” said Joyce Zsembery, supervisor of the Arts for PWCS.

Students participate in rehearsals that culminate in the 4 p.m. performance. (Snow date is Feb. 14.) Guests are invited to attend and support arts education in PWCS schools.
