People at the top of children’s Christmas lists beside family members are their teachers.
What to give is sometimes hard for students to figure out. The part that makes it exciting for children of all ages is the anticipation of deciding what to give their teacher.
Since most teachers are teaching to the beginning of the holidays and there is so little time, Christmas cookies or treats are always appreciated.
A new book for the class library is a gift the whole class can enjoy.
Gift cards to coffee shops, restaurants, stores and spas are easy gifts to buy and always gratifying to receive.
Unique gifts can be found at farmers’ markets or craft shows around the county; ones the children create are also special.
Most teachers look forward to the Christmas vacation as a time to relax quietly after the hubbub of getting ready for the holidays. A gift of a variety of special teas, coffees or hot chocolate is one they can use as they sit back and enjoy their break.
Teachers will, sometimes, have a certain charity or cause that is dear to their hearts.
One teacher mentioned a present that she was thrilled to receive from one of her students. It was a donation to Habitat for Humanity, a group she volunteered for and the student knew about it. If students know one a teacher supports a donation is also great idea.
Several teachers, in lieu of gifts for themselves, have the class adopt a needy child or family. The children have such joy bringing in toys, clothing and gift cards for that family and then helping wrap the items.
But, whatever gift is given, it will be a special one because each teacher can sense the excitement the child has as he or she presents it. Nothing brings more to the Christmas season than seeing the joy children have in giving to others whom they love.
