The National Museum of the United States Navy will host a memorial event on Dec. 8 at noon commemorating the 73rd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. The event, Memories of the Homefront: Perspectives from two U.S. Cities, will take place at the National Museum of the United States Navy on the Washington Navy Yard.
The speakers will be John Warner and Robert Dunn, both with deep ties to the U.S. Navy and personal memories of the day.
Warner and Dunn were young boys in Washington and Chicago respectively, and will share their memories and reactions of that historic day. They will share their memories in observance of the anniversary of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
John Warner is an American Republican politician who served as Secretary of the Navy from 1972-1974. He also served as a five-term United States Senator from Virginia from 1979-2009. Warner is also a World War II Veteran.
Vice Admiral Robert Dunn retired from the US Navy as the top naval aviator. He was responsible for establishing materiel requirements and setting policies. In addition, he is past president of the Naval Historical Foundation. He currently serves as a member of the board of UT-Services, a research and development company.
