Castaways Repertory Theatre sets upcoming auditions for Peter Pan

Audition dates for the Castaways Repertory Theatre’s January 2015 production of Peter Pan, adapted from the book by Xandra Weaver and directed by Xandra Weaver are scheduled.

They are Nov. 6 from 7-9 pm, and Nov. 8 from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with. callbacks Nov. 10 from 7-9 p.m. at The Ferlazzo Building, 15941 Donald Curtis Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22191

Performance Dates are Jan. 16, 17, 18 (matinee), 23, 24 (matinee) 24 (evening), 30, 31, Febr. 1 (matinee).  All evening curtains times are 8 p.m. and matinee curtain times are 1 p.m.

Casting & Audition requirements:  Please be prepared to do cold readings from the script. I’m looking for all ages, but there are roles for some smaller kids as well, so if they cannot read yet, they need to have something memorized in order to show their ability to perform and follow directions. There will be a dance scene for the Indians and a dance scene for the Pirates, so any dance experience is a plus. All children who fly will need to be able to jump on a trampoline to launch themselves onto the stage and get the feeling of flying. All actual flying will be done with a projection. We do color, gender and age blind casting. The actor’s abilities are more important than race, gender and age for every role in the show.

Ages ranges and characters and descriptions: Most characters are open for all age ranges and the director will have a live action Tinkerbell who is a little itty bitty. The characters are all the same as in the original, with room for as many Lost Boys, Indians and Pirates as we can use.

Dance skills are helpful, though not required. We will be working on British accents just for the Darling Family and the maid Eliza. No previous experience needed.
