“Literacy Matters” will highlight the first annual spring charity luncheon of the Dominion Woman’s Club at Piedmont Club in Haymarket on Saturday, April 26.
There will be a silent auction, raffles and sponsor opportunities as well as an author-speaker and a book signing.
Although all of the club’s outreach efforts will benefit, the purpose of the luncheon “is to highlight the need for supporting efforts to improve adult and child literacy,” said Mary Ellen Murphy, the club’s corresponding secretary.
Ellen Crosby, author of six Virginia wine mysteries set in the Middleburg area and the recent “Multiple Exposure,” will be the featured speaker and will be doing a book signing at the event, Murphy added.
The luncheon will be Dominion Woman’s Club’s major fundraising activity and will benefit the charities the group supports, Murphy said. These include Haymarket Regional Food Pantry, PACE West School, Rainbow Therapeutic Riding Center, Friends of Homeless Animals, BEACON, CASA, Hylton Performing Arts Center and Bull Run Mountain Conservancy.
Dominion Woman’s Club is a 501-c3 organization; the club is comprised of women who seek to serve their community through volunteer service while forging bonds of friendship. Members are residents of Haymarket, Gainesville, Bristow, Manassas and Fauquier County. Tickets can be purchased online at dominionwomansclub.org.
