Recycling hits the game of soccer!  Locals asked to donate equipment for Haitain youth

Used soccer equipment in good condition such as balls, cleats, indoor/turf shoes, jerseys, shorts and socks) will be collected in Haymarket and Centreville on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to benefit youth soccer players in Haiti.

The collection is being organized by Larry Dolph, owner/coach of Just 4 Keepers of Northern VA, a Gainesville based soccer goalkeeper academy. Cooperating groups are Helping Haitian Angels (HHA) of
Haymarket and Helping Haiti and Soccer (HANDS) of Warrenton, and through the generosity of several local area soccer clubs,

Dolph was quoted in a news release as saying, “Youth players here in the US outgrow their equipment long before it’s seen the end of its useful life. I wanted to give some kids who love to play the game but don’t necessarily have cleats or jerseys, or even a soccer ball, the chance to play with good equipment that would otherwise get discarded.”

Look for volunteers at the collection bins at two sites:

• Virginia Soccer Association’s (VSA) James S Long Park at 4603 James Madison Highway, Haymarket. Bins will be located between turf fields 5,6, and 7.

• Southwestern Youth Association (SYA) Soccer Park at 6626 Bull Run Post Office Road, Centreville. Bins will be located near the concession stand.

If a club or organization would like to get involved, or has equipment to donate but cannot make it to the donation event, email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
