April 27 dog walk to benefit first PWC dog park in Lake Ridge

Prince William County Dogs, the community support group that raised money to build the K9 Gunner Memorial dog park in Lake Ridge, is partnering with the Prince William Parks & Recreation Department and the Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition for a Dog Walk fundraiser on Sunday, April 27 at noon at Lake Ridge Park.  Preregistration begins at 11:30 a.m.

People wishing to participate can preregister now at http://www.pwcdogs.com and go to Upcoming Events.  The fee for the walk is $5 per dog.  The walk is approximately 2.75 miles and will start and end in Lake Ridge Park.  The route includes both natural surface trails along the Occoquan Reservoir and sidewalks along Lake Ridge streets.  Refreshments for dogs and their human companions will be available.  For more information or volunteer at the walk, contact Cindy at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Prince William County Dogs must continue to raise funds to improve the dog park, located at 13000 Minnieville Road in Woodbridge.  The organization would like to add a ground cover, estimated to cost about $15,000.

According to a news release, PWC Dogs partners with local dog-friendly businesses, adoption agencies, and county organizations to promote animal rescue, responsible pet ownership, and general education about resources available to dog owners (and dog lovers) and their families.
