A variety of fund raising events are planned at the Nokesville United Methodist Church, including one to benefit the food pantry that was severely damaged during a break in February.
“It was sad and shocking to see the damage done and it can be easy to get discouraged in the face of such mindless vandalism. But I choose to focus on the other changes, positive, uplifting changes which are bringing people together in an effort to help the growing need for food assistance amongst us,” said Rannveig Fredheim, mission chairman.
In the church bulletin, Fredheim said many church members have stepped forward to lend a helping hand with restoring the pantry.
The food pantry is open at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Fridays for those in need.
A Bike/Car Run to benefit the pantry will be conducted on April 26, starting and ending at the church at 12550 Aden Road, Nokesville.
Games will be played at each stop and food will be served at registration and at the end of the ride. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the last motorcycle/car at 10 a.m.
