Local D.C. area IHOP restaurants have partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) on National Pancake Day for the past 10 years. As part of the celebration today, March 4, all participating local IHOP’s will give away one free short stack of pancakes with the hopes that patrons will make a donation to LLS in lieu of payment.
The event continues until 10 p.m. tonight.
Stores are raising funds in honor of Asad, a six-year-old leukemia survivor and National Pancake Day Honored Hero.
Asad was diagnosed in June of 2012 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at the age of four. Currently undergoing treatment, Asad and his family joyfully look forward to January 2016 when his treatment comes to an end.
Last year, the combined efforts of this partnership led to more than $226,000 being raised for the National Capital Area Chapter of LLS. This year the hope is to raise $250,000.
Local LLS volunteers will be on site at the IHOP restaurants to help collect donations on National Pancake Day and distribute organization information. To find an IHOP near you, visit http://www.ihop.com
