Taste of Town raises funds for Project Mend-a-House to help with needed home repairs

Project Mend-A-House invites the community to join its 13th annual Taste of the Town dinner and fundraiser on Oct. 16. Guests get to sample delicious foods from 25+ favorite local restaurants.

This event will showcase culinary specialties from some of Prince William County’s best restaurants on Wednesday, Oct. 16,  at the VFW Post 1503, located at 14631 Minneville Road, Woodbridge, VA 22193.

For a donation of $25 per person, guests get to sample delicious foods from 25+ favorite local restaurants.

This fundraiser offers great food, entertainment and support for PMAH’s home repair and home modification program, which serves Prince William County, the City of Manassas and Manassas Park communities. Gina Vetro, the Executive Administrative Assistant, stated “It is such a great opportunity for us to bring together our partners and the community for an evening of fantastic food and fellowship”.

Part of this event will include the judging of the “Build-A-House” Contest.  Individuals, families, or teams of up to five people can purchase a kit (donation of $25) and build a house of craft sticks.

The kit contains 250 craft sticks, a foam core board (10” x 15”) and a container of glue. The building will be judged on structural integrity, creativity and neatness. There will also be fan favorites and honorable mentions. The houses will be the centerpieces of each of the tables.

Barbara Reese of BR Associates, the contest sponsor, said this is a wonderful family project.  “We hope that this project will bring families together to do something fun and also something that benefits the community.” To get your kit, call the PMAH office at 703-792-7663. Pick up your kit @ 7987 Ashton Ave, Manassas, VA 20109 or have it delivered.
