Volunteers are needed in our community 6/5/13

Good morning Prince William, Calling all school bus drivers and anyone else who may have a CDL license- SERVE needs a volunteer to takes kids from the shelter in Manassas to camp in Manassas Park. All that is needed is to pick the kids up at 8am and then bring them home at 3:30pm in the SERVE passenger van.  Please help a kid experience summer camp!  Camp runs from June 24th to August 23rd.  Email Jan at: .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) for all the specifics.

• Take mom out to dinner tomorrow June 6th at the Ruby Tuesday on Marblestone Drive in Woodbridge from 5-7pm. and 20% of your purchase will benefit all the super programs of First Home Alliance. Call (703) 580-7229 for reservations or directions.

• Here’s a huge Cheers to the new Training Futures Program in Manassas. This program will train individuals in medical administration positions.  Volunteers are needed as mentors, speakers and instructors.  Please call Julie at (571) 748-2628 to learn more about this nationally recognized workforce development program.

• New Creatures in Christ Ministries Food Pantry in Woodbridge needs volunteers to help Tuesday evenings 5-7pm and Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am-2pm.  Teen volunteers are very welcome as they are gearing up for a busy summer supporting families from 2 elementary schools so the kids continue with healthy meals for the summer. • Birmingham Green Nursing Home in Manassas needs a Korean-speaking gentleman to be a friendly visitor to a resident who only speaks Korean.  Come by for an hour or so each week to brighten this gentleman’s day.  Please Call Zach at (703) 257-6252 to learn more.

• Brain Injury Services is looking for a friendly visitor for a young lady in Manassas. She loves to do crafts and scrapbooking with her aide.  This is a wonderful opportunity for a scout troop to do several times or weekly.  Please call Michelle at (703) 451-8881 ext. 232 to learn more.

• Manassas Parks and Rec has an urgent call for volunteers to help them with the Kids Triathlon event on Saturday June 15th.  Teens are very welcome.  Duties include course marshal, water station and cheering section.  Please call Tony at (703) 335-8872 to learn more.

• The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) needs senior volunteers age 55 and older to provide transportation for a veteran to get to a local doctor’s appt. • Yes you can Young Lady- Young Man is also gearing up for fun activities for kids this summer.  They are looking for kids’ age 12-18 yrs old to join the new 10 week program starting Tuesday June 25th from 7-9pm. Please call Hatcat at (571) 214-6790 for more info.

• BEACON Adult Literacy Program needs volunteers in the Manassas area to teach ESL, adult basic Ed, citizenship and conversation.
