Gabrielle Concepcion, a Haymarket Food Pantry teen volunteer, is organizing a meal packing event on Friday, May 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tyler Elementary School. She is asking for set-up, clean-up and packing volunteers and donations.
After seeing the needs of the community and the world in general about food, the Osbourn Park High School freshman says she wants to be proactive about hunger. Tyler Elementary School and the STOP HUNGER NOW organization are partnering with Concepcion for the May 31 meal packing event.
“We could possibly feed more than 10,000 people that night depending on my fundraising efforts. Each meal costs only 25 cents and that is less than what people spend for their daily coffee,” Concepcion said.
Checks may be made payable to STOP HUNGER NOW. In the memo line put Meal Packing Event at Tyler. Mail or take check to the school, 14500 John Marshall Highway, Gainesville, VA 20155. Phone: 703-754-7181
