Dogtopia of Manassas, located at 10352 Balls Ford Road, invites local residents bring their dogs for a bath on Sunday, July 22, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and to take part in the franchise’s eighth national fundraising project that will benefit service animals. The national goal is to raise $25,000. The local effort will benefit the Prince William Police K9 Unit.
According to a news release, Dogtopias nationwide will participate in the annual charity dog wash. Donations will raise money for all types of working animals, including police dogs, military dogs, and therapy dogs. Dogtopia’s first dog wash fundraiser was held in July 2005 at the original location in Vienna, with a goal of generating support for military dogs and their handlers serving overseas.
A news release quoted Amy Nichols, CEO and Founder of Dogtopia as saying, “It’s more important than ever to give back to local working dogs in our communities, since funding is being cut in the government.”
Dogtopia of Manassas’ goal is to wash at least 100 dogs. Owners can take their dogs for a bath, then stay for food and fun. A $15 per dog wash donation is being requested, with 100 percent of the proceeds to K-9 Support, the news release said. For more information on the charity dog wash go to http://www.k9support.org.
