Tranquility raising funds to build second house for children orphaned by AIDS

Tranquility Day Spa and Salon at 15125 Washington Street, Suite 304, in Haymarket, is accepting donations until June 30 to build Molly’s House #2 for Zambian children orphaned by AIDS.

Donors giving $20 or more will be entered into a raffle to win a $500 Tranquility gift card and also receive a copy of “Black and White,” the story behind the building of Molly’s House written by John Mizerak, Molly’s husband. The fundraising campaign will wrap up with the Black and White Open House on Saturday, June 30 from noon to 4 p.m. The open house will feature a book signing with John Mizerak, “black and white” treats, and the drawing for the gift card raffle winner, a news release said.

This is the second year Tranquility has led a fundraising drive to build a home as part of the Every Orphan’s Hope (EOH) program. The day spa’s 2011 campaign raised about $11,000 to build “Molly’s House.” That honors Molly Mizerak, a Loudoun County resident who passed away in 2011, soon after she and her family dedicated their lives to supporting EOH. The Mizerak family made a pledge to build 49 more homes in Molly’s name. Current fundraising will go toward building Molly’s House #2, which will be constructed during a mission trip in July and August.

Gloria Harding, spa co-founder, was quoted in the news release as saying, “The Tranquility community is blessed and honored to work with the Mizerak family and Every Orphan’s Hope on this wonderful effort. Molly Mizerak was both a friend of the Tranquility community and a spiritual mentor of mine. We’re looking forward to helping fulfill one of her life’s goals by making a positive, lasting difference in the lives of some very special people in Zambia.”

Founded in 2002 by Gary Schneider, EOH works through local churches to defend, comfort, encourage, care for and pray for orphans. Each of the 11 EOH homes built to date houses eight children and a widowed mother to care for them.
