Warrenton-Fauquier Heritage Day will lend understanding to area’s place in history

A street festival, parade, lectures, singing and dancing and other activities with a historic twist will occupy downtown Warrenton VA on Saturday, Sept. 22 for Warrenton-Fauquier Heritage Day. Buckland Farm, off Vint Hill Road just over he Prince William County line, will be open in connection with the festival. The day of fun and history will be held for the eighth year, according to a news release.

Grizzlies’ season kickoff and fundraiser set for Sept. 8, at Dominion Valley’s Market Square

Gainesville-Haymarket Youth Football League’s (Grizzlies) season kickoff and fundraiser, on Sept. 8, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Dominion Valley Market Square in Haymarket VA will feature Grizzlies Give Back 5K, 1K Family Fun Run, community street fair, children’s carnival, live entertainment and parade of teams. All proceeds benefit the Grizzlies Give Back Campaign to improve and build youth sports fields in the community.

5K race, fun run and health expo Oct. 7 at NOVA Woodbridge

The Woodbridge VA Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will host a 5-kilometer race, 1-mile family fun run/walk, and free health and wellness expo on Sunday, Oct. 7, to raise funds for scholarships for NOVA students.

Just about a week remains to meet the Sept. 10 registration deadline for the Derek Wayne Crowe Memorial Scholarship Foundation's golf fundraiser on Sept. 14. Drama camps for children and teens at Hylton Center

Leesylvania State Park to host benefit hike for breast cancer Aug. 11

Leesylvania State Park in Woodbridge VA will host the annual Hike for the Cause charity event, on Saturday, Aug. 11 to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The hike covers four miles through the park’s historical, wooded trails bordering the Potomac River. Children's activities and a 5 p.m. concert round out the day.

Dogtopia aims to wash 100 dogs for charity on July 22

A Manassas dog wash franchise has set a goal of giving a 100 canines a bath during a four-hour period on Sunday, July 22 in a fundraiser for Prince William County Police Department's K-9 unit. The community is invited to bring their dogs for a wash and "stay for the fun and food."
