In 2013 Governor and First Lady McDonnell are commemorating the year of the Virginia historic house. In honor of the announcement the Prince William County Historic Preservation Division will host special free admission days during August at Ben Lomond Historic Site and Rippon Lodge Historic Site.

Three college students will perform at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 5640 Hoadly Road, Manassas, on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. to raise money for the homeless shelter in Harrisonburg VA. Two of the three attend James Madison University in Harrisonburg.

5K Walk/Run charity event for the fight against cancer will be held at Heritage Hunt in Gainesville on Saturday, Sept. 7, starting at at 8:30 a.m. There is a 2K optional route.
Friends of Farthest Corners will be serving up half-chickens, loads of fresh farm produce and home-made ice cream on Aug. 3 at Windy Knoll Conservation and Education Center, 11602 Kettle Run Road, Nokesville, VA. Farthest Corners is a Nokesville-based non-profit mission organization that supports local missionaries.
Pop singer and Gainesville resident Jordan Baird, who gained national attention following his finalist appearance on The CW’s singing competition show ‘The Next’, will join The Jonas Brothers as the opening act for their July 29 concert at Jiffy Lube Live.
