Local 2598 Prince William Professional Fire Fighters in conjunction with the Prince William County Police Association will host a charity soccer tournament on July 27 at Patriot High School in Nokesville. The games are the backdrop for a free public safety community day.
A weeklong stay in a Virginia State Park cabin or campsite is the grand prize for the Treasure the Moments photo contest that continues through Aug. 13. Other prizes include two nights in a cabin, three nights of camping as well as park passes.
On Saturday, July 19, Manassas National Battlefield Park historians will offer special guided tours highlighting sites significant to the First Manassas battle. These will include a tour of the Stone Bridge area, a Matthews Hill tour, a Sudley Springs tour, a Portici tour, and a tour of the Chinn Ridge area. Each of these ranger-guided programs will run about 60-90 minutes.
Attendees will have the chance to hear D.C. native Denyce Graves as she joins Maestro Maazel and the Castleton Festival Orchestra to perform a program of lush vocal splendors from the operatic and musical theater repertoire.
Marine Corps Heritage Foundation will launch its annual Summer Concert Series for the fifth year next Thursday, July 17, ,with a performance by the U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps and Silent Drill Platoon, at 7:30 pm at the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico Marine Base.

From retired members of the U.S. Army Band to current and former music educators to those who hadn’t picked up an instrument since high school or college, the Prince William Community Band counts them all among its more than 65 members. Auditions are not required to join; one just needs to be over 18 and have an instrument. All-American music at July 6 ice cream concert in Manassas.
