Volunteers sought for Stewardship Virginia projects on natural resources

Stewardship Virginia, a statewide campaign to encourage and recognize voluntary activities with a tangible impact on Virginia’s natural resources, continues this year with events across the state. The campaign features activities in both the spring and fall. The fall portion runs through Oct. 31.

HHA moves orphans into part of Kay Anj Village; Sept. 13 event to help expand village

Debbie Harvey, co-founder of Helping Haitian Angels, along with Lisa Ennis and Burdgetta Sedlak, both board members of HHA, spent the weekend of Aug. 23 moving 42 orphan Haitian children into homes that the nonprofit helped to build with donations, The homes are part of the first phase of Kay Anj Village, which includes four homes, a school, a church and fields, where the children can safely play.To help aid in the completion of the village and the care of the children, Helping Haitian Angels will be hosting Raise the Roof, their fourth annual auction and benefit Sept. 13 at Evergreen Country Club.

Lake Ridge gardeners to hear from the “bug man” at Sept. 8 meeting

Extras sought for new ABC / Amazon Civil War pilot-Point of Honor

There will be an OPEN CASTING CALL on Friday, Sept. 5 for background players for Point of Honor, an ABC Signature & Amazon Studios pilot directed by Randall Wallace, who directed Secretariat and wrote the screenplay for Braveheart and wrote and directed Heaven is for Real.

Upcoming auditions for holiday play - Miracle on 34th Street
