A free field day at Crow’s Nest Natural Area Preserve in Stafford County will be Saturday, May 2, starting at 9 a.m. The first 80 to sign up will see various plant life while on a guided hike through wetlands and rolling landscape. It supports habitat for a variety of species, including bald eagles, migratory birds, the federally endangered short-nosed sturgeon and 22 plant species important to Virginia’s Coastal Plain.

WSHS VEX team #1575, will be traveling to compete in the VEX World Championship to be held in Louisville, KY on April 15-19 and is seeking support in the amount of $10,000 from the community through Go Fund Me to offset travel expenses.

Virginia State Parks Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is looking for students ages 14-17 interested in physically demanding work protecting Virginia's environment. Serve on a crew with other teens at a Virginia State Park for three weeks, June 21 to July 11 or July 19 to Aug. 8. Apply by April 15.
Army Officers' Wives' Club of the Greater Washington Area (AOWCGWA) monthly luncheon on Thursday, April 16, in the Koran Room of the Joint Base Ft. Myer-Henderson Hall Officers' Club from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Saturday at the Park event is a part of a National Park Service Challenge Cost Share grant. The purpose of the grant program is to provide a means for the general public to learn about, explore and investigate the natural and historical treasure that is in their community.

If you can help with community cleanups, a boat or canoe, teaching conversation or computer skills to people for whom English is a second language, tutoring, friending someone with a brain injury or lending willing hands to the food pantry, you are needed as a volunteer.
Extras Casting Director Chad Darnell is looking for men and women ages 18 and older to play doctors, nurses, patients and soldiers in an upcoming Civil War series for PBS. Specifically Darnell is looking for very thin men (with no tattoos) and male amputees to play soldiers.
