Community performances of the Polar Express by the “A Street Bruins” are scheduled on Dec. 9, 10, and 11 at Forest Park High School at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. This performance of the popular children’s story of a train ride draws students from PWCS elementary and middle schools and is open to the community.
Bah, Humbug! Scrooge’s Christmas Carol is a special experience for audience members who have never seen this heartwarming tale and those who have seen it multiple times! Northern Virginia Players will bring this classic story with a timeless message to life Dec. 11-12 and Dec. 18-19.
Members of Francis Cannon VFW Post 7589 in Manassas will be visiting schools, conducting two Veterans Day programs - one at Manassas Cemetery and one at Caton Merchant House - and offering "Buddy Poppies" at area supermarkets in celebration of Veterans Week.
The Hylton Center will celebrate and honors veterans, service members and their families with a day of music and visual arts on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.
Free parking, flag retirement, create cards for vets, post photos on Wall of Honor, speeches from veterans, 5K walk/run to benefit Wounded Warriors and sending care packages are among the Veterans Day happenings at Virginia State Parks.

Compañia Flamenca José Porcel will bring the passionate rhythms and enchanting movement of flamenco dancing to the Northern Virginia area with “Flamenco Fire,” at the George Mason University’s Center for the Arts in Fairfax on Friday, Nov. 6, at 8 p.m. and at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m.
Fauquier Court House Chapter, DAR and Culpeper Minutemen Chapter, SAR, will co-host a genealogy workshop on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Warrenton Presbyterian Church, 91 Main Street. Sessions will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.
The New Dominion Choraliers first show of the 2015/16 season is a free concert to honor those who serve and have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The concert will be performed on Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 p.m. at Westminster of Lake Ridge.
B.E.A.T. Cancer: Breast Education Awareness & Treatment invites caregivers, cancer survivors and anyone interested in the journey of the caregiver to attend a play on Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. at NOVA Woodbridge to commemorate October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month and November as National Family Caregivers Month.
Prince William County Police Department invites the community to attend the “Carnival of Sorrows” Haunted Trail this Friday and Saturday night, Oct. 30th and 31st, for some scary fun and to benefit Special Olympics of Virginia.
