The Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College will present Your Queens on Feb. 17 from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the campus cafeteria (Howsmon Hall, first floor). The group teaches about the historic legacy of African queens through storytelling, song and dance.

Prince William Conservation Alliance will lead a hike Chinn Park Hike from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6. Meet at Chinn Library 13065 Chinn Park Drive, Woodbridge VA, 22192.

Due to heater failure, the hot tub at Manassas Park Community Center will be closed until further notice, according to a Feb. 3 press release from the community center staff.

There are upcoming volunteer opportunities for auction assistants in March, health fair assistants on April 9, Bristoe Battlefield maintenance assistants on April 2 and a food assistance specialist at SERVE.

Fathers and daughters will have the chance to dress up, dance and enjoy an evening out together to celebrate Valentine's Day at several upcoming Daddy-Daughter dances at locations across Prince William County.

Volunteers are needed to check on the elderly in their neighborhoods, play disaster jeopardy or bingo with retirement home residents, disaster recovery training in places of worship Feb. 3, Civil War Trust annual park cleanup day at Bristoe Station Battlefield on April 2 and food assistant specialists to check clients in and out at SERVE.

Auditions for actors ages 18 and older for LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, to be presented by the Center for the Arts’ Rooftop Productions in April, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6 from 1:30-4:30pm and Monday, Feb. 8 from 6-9 pm at the Center for the Arts at 9419 Battle St., Old Town Manassas.

Upcoming volunteer opportunities include a food assistance specialist needed at SERVE and the Joe 15 Team needs blood donors.

Dr. Charles Poland, retired history professor and Civil War expert, will greet visitors on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m., at the opening of the new exhibit at the Manassas Museum, “What the Civil War Soldier Carried: Selections from the Collection of Dr. Charles Poland.”

Upcoming opportunities include setting up new Habitat ReStore, helping with stream monitoring, assembling care packages for homeless people, playing games with senior citizens and volunteering for a Jan. 23 cleanup event.
