Manassas National Battlefield Park will host a series of special programs marking the 154th anniversary of the Second Battle of Manassas, beginning on the evening of Friday, Aug. 26, and continuing through Sunday, Aug. 28. The public is invited to participate in these events and programs, which will be held at various locations throughout the park.
Living history re-enactors, historians, displays, activities and much more will be featured at this year’s Manassas Civil War Weekend, Aug. 26-28.
Braemar resident Col. Gary West is riding his bicycle down the East Coast for two months for a charity called Folds of Honor. He hopes to raise at least $60,000 for wounded heroes and families of those whose loved one was killed in combat. On Monday, August 22, at 4 p.m. West will be at Patriot High School in Nokesville for a ceremony.
Folk singer Judy Cook will perform a program of Civil War music at Manassas National Battlefield Park on Saturday, August 20. The hour-long performance called "Civil War HiJinks" will be held in the Henry Hill Visitor Center auditorium at 5:30 p.m.
